Insurance
Comprehensive Insurance
this is included in the rental rates for all motorhomes. This insurance
limits the driver's liability in the event of damage to the rental vehicle
(regardless of who causes the damage and how), theft (see 'Insurance
Exclusions' section for exceptions), break-ins and vandalism to max.
€1600 per incident. For a list of incidents that are not covered
by the insurance see below under 'Insurance Exclusions.
Supplementary insurance options are available at pick-up time:
An insurance fee of €100 is payable per week for each additional
driver.
Bond
A bond (€1000) is required in cash or credit card form (Visa, Mastercard
or American Express) at pick-up time, otherwise the vehicle can not
be handed over.
In the event of Fire or Theft, malicious structural or accidental damage,
under the terms and conditions of the underwriter "ROYAL AND SUNALLIANCE"
the hirer is liable for the first €1,600 arising from the cost
of replacement or repairs.
The bond is deducted from your credit card at pick-up and is reimbursed
48 hours after dropping off the vehicle as long as it is free of damage
and has been fully checked by Breena Motorhome Hire Ltd. Breena Motorhome
Hire Ltd is not responsible for any credit card fees or fluctuations
in foreign currency that occur while your bond is held.
Please ensure you have adequate credit available on your credit card.
The bond applies on a per-incident basis. If there is an accident where
third party property is damaged a further bond is taken for the remaining
rental days to cover the excess for any further incidents.
It is reimbursed in full as long as the vehicle is undamaged, clean
and the fuel tanks are full (not the propane gas tank). The rental company
reserves the right to charge fees for damage, post-hire cleaning, a
late drop-off, etc.
Any such fees are deducted from your credit card in arrears or offset
the reimbursement of the bond. Hirer is responsible for any fines or
parking tickets.
Excess
The excess is always banked in the first instance, regardless of who
is at fault and is owed to the rental company by the renter. If an accident
occurs with an uninsured driver or if another driver flees the scene
of an accident the renter is liable for the full amount of the excess.
The excess is refunded as soon as the rental company receives a payment
from a third party. This can of course take some time.
Insurance
Exclusions
All insurance cover will be null and void if the terms of the Breena
Motorhomes Hire Ltd rental agreement are breached. Any damage that is
caused by the fact the renter acts outside of the rental company conditions
is not covered by the insurance.
Any water and/or saltwater related damage where the renter is at fault
are not covered by the insurance. This includes any damage to the under
body or roof appendages.
The insurance also doesn't cover any loss of property as a result of

- Any vehicle submersion
- The vehicle being stranded in a water area
- Creek or river crossings
- Driving through causeways
- Beach driving
- Activities that are in breach of the rental agreement conditions,

(especially with regard to camping appendages)
Drivers of motorhomes must be aware of low bridges and height of vehicle,
also driving in the area of Connor Pass, Area Dingle is out of bounds
and not permitted. Doing so invalidates insurance.
In the following cases the renter is liable for the full amount of damage
caused either to the rented vehicle or to the property of a third party
involved:
- Damage caused by the use of the wrong fuel or when water or oil, etc
are not topped up to minimum required levels (causing overheating, frost
damage, etc) or where warning signals in the vehicle are ignored
- Damage that is a result of not considering the measurements of the
vehicle (height, width), of appendages (including TV antennae) and the
under body
- Costs that arise for towing and recovery of vehicles that have been
stranded or submerged as a result of the driver's negligence.
- Repairs and towing costs that are incurred because of driving on no
permitted roads or in forbidden areas.
- Glass damage (e.g. the windscreen, lights or other glass)

vehicle
- If people drive the car who have not been registered in the rental
agreement

or damaged during theft is not insured.
- If damage is caused as a result of other people using the vehicle
without the permission of the rental company there is also no insurance
cover.
- If the vehicle is stolen where the keys are left in the vehicle of
if the vehicle is not locked
Traveling
to mainland Europe

requires European cover cert issued by the hirer at time of pick up.
Prohibited Activities
The renter is prohibited from using the vehicle:
- To participate in motor sport or vehicle testing activities
- As a means of transportation for inflammable, poisonous or otherwise
dangerous substances
- To commit crimes of any kind (including cross-border activities) even
if such activities are only punishable by the laws prevailing where
such crimes are committed
- To rent to a third party for any activities that are outside of those
approved in the rental agreement terms and conditions - especially those
that involve driving the vehicle on terrain that is not permitted.
Further Insurance & Local Payment Information
The renter is liable for any fees, costs, fines or penalties that occur
during his/her use of the rental vehicle unless any such costs that
have taken place are the fault of the rental company.
If speeding tickets and parking fines and/or accidents, etc (e.g. that
have not been mentioned to the rental company) come to light the rental
company reserves the right to invoice or charge the customer for these
costs in arrears as well as a processing fee.
The insurance options offered by the rental company do not include luggage
insurance, nor do they included cover for any damage to passengers.
